2nd Annual Sharon Jaffray Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by Nottawasaga Mechanical.
Our 2nd annual event was a success. Our tournament this year was on August 29 and was held at Duntroon Highlands Golf course. We had 112 registered golfers for the event and an extra 10 guests for dinner. It was a great day for golf as the rain stopped when we started to play and the sun shined the rest of the day. Everyone had a great time, and many donations were by local companies and residents. We raised $7500.00 that we have donated to Royal Victoria Hospital Cancer Center in Sharon Jaffray’s name. We would Like to thank REC Industries, Coxco, Bardon, York, Desco, Eden Energy, Beacon Restaurant, Collingwood Toyota, Catch 22, Hannah Motors, Jim Bower Enterprises, Saunders Office Supply, Bank of Montreal, Torbram Electric, Bell Mobility, TD Water House, Beach Chiropractic, Wasaga Beach Subway (River Road Location), Noble Trade, Devil’s Glen Country Club, Connie O’Shell, Toppers Pizza (Wasaga Beach and Collingwood), On the Bay Magazine, Lennox, Skky Radiant, Stayner Dental Centre, Rusty’s at Blue, Mit-Con Services, Westburne, YMCA Collingwood, Lynda Jeffrey @ Investors Group, Lockhart Automart, Georgian Bay Club, Wasaga Hydro, Bill Taylor, Brad Dale, Nancy Ruttan and Turner & Porter Funeral Homes.
Major prize sponsors included Collingwood Toyota, Jim Bower Enterprises, Anthony Coseni @ Skky Radiant and The Stayner Dental Center. These prizes were awarded to the closest to the pin (men's and women's) and the longest drive (men's and women's).
Thank you to Mike Jackson General Motors for helping sponsor the invitation to the Million Dollar Hole in One, and all of the Hole in One prizes (set of golf clubs, trip for 2, and the 2009 Pontiac G5). Some people came close but no one drained the hole in one. We would like to make a special thanks to QVS Fireplaces for donating an outdoor propane lantern that we raffled off as a grand prize. $915.00 was raised on this raffle.
Mike and Florijan from Investors Group set up their tent on hole #3 and handed out goodies to our golfers. They also had ballots for a trip for 2 to next years British Open. Thanks Guys!
97.7 The Beach Radio station held a “Live on Location” session at the club house. They interviewed a number of people from our group and helped us make the community aware of the great cause we were supporting that day. Thanks to Chris, Steve and Rebecca from 97.7. We would also like to thank Park Sign, York, Investors Group, McKeough Supply, Eden Energy, Rusty’s at Blue, Lennox, Weed Man, Rigney Electric, Noble Insurance, Blue Rock Wealth Management, Yellow Pages, and Geothermal Solutions for their generous Hole Sponsorships. Duntroon Highlands also donated back half the cost of the green fees to the charity which works out to $2912. This is a very generous donation and we greatly appreciate it.
We hope to see everyone out next year!
